Who We Are
About Us.

WCEE Illinois was founded in 2023 by female students in Civil & Environmental Engineering at UIUC. We were inspired by other engineering fields and the communities they have created for women in their space. We strive to create a connected space for women in a field that is primarily male-dominated, by providing support academically, socially, and professionally.

WCEE is not limited to only Civil & Environmental Engineering majors; All undergraduate students with an interest in this field are welcome!
Members of our organization are interested in career positions such as project managers, CAD technicians, surveyors, and more. Our topics of focus include, but are not limited to, sustainability, construction, environmental health, and resilience. We are always striving to improve and expand in all ways possible!

Professional Workshops
We organize professional development workshops such as resume reviews, interview workshops, and career fair preparations. These events help WCEE members develop their professional and social skills for their future careers.
Networking
We host social events for WCEE to network with members of the CEE major and other professionals in the field. Events consist of game nights, study sessions, speed-friending, etc.
Speaker Events
We invite companies and UIUC alumni to come speak with current WCEE members about their career journey and any experiences within the field. Members get the opportunity to hear from experienced individuals and gain tips for their own career paths.
Mentorship
We foster strong connections between upperclassmen and new members through our mentorship program. Through member feedback and careful selection, mentor-mentee pairings are made to ensure that the mentee is receiving the support that they need.
Community Outreach
We plan multiple community and K-12 STEM education events throughout the year. From Robot Day, Engineering Open House, and local school outreach, we strive to promote civil and environmental engineering to the next generation.
